Radiant floor heat means a warm & comfortable home

The two story homes at Glassbury Court at Cold Spring feature first floor radiant heat as a standard feature. Radiant floor heat is a luxury that many people have not had the opportunity to experience. In this system tubing is placed in a grid pattern running across the entire floor in each room. A concrete slab is poured over the tubing and the tubing becomes part of the floor. Hot water runs through the tubing and heats the whole room. Although radiant floor heating has been around since the time of the Romans it has not been as widely used in modern construction as more common heating systems. With the emphasis on saving energy and the use of pex tubing instead of copper tubing, radiant floor heat is used and enjoyed much more widely in modern construction than in the past.
This feature gives the room a very even heat with no registers, baseboard or radiators to interfere with the placement of furniture. In this type of system everything that touches the floor is gently warmed. In rooms with high ceilings these systems lower energy consumption by reducing the tendency of warm air to rise to the ceiling while cool air pools at the floor level. This effect is called air stratification.
In our ranch style homes the radiant floor heat is an option that is available.
